Isn’t it great? The snow has almost disappeared, sweaters can occasionally be worn instead of heavy coats, and the odd shoot of green grass can be seen. All is coming slowly to life again. There is lots of mud, but that should dry up soon. March break is upon us this week, with my boys having a much-needed vacation from the routine of school. It’s a long haul from New Years until now.
March break for us heralds our first trip of the year to the beach. Yes…you heard right…the beach. We love beach-combing. I collect sea glass, JT collects bottle caps, and BT likes to pick up anything that looks interesting. They wear their rubber boots and puddle in the water, pretending to be pirate captains while launching their driftwood "boats".
BT and JT headed for the ocean! This is Bachman's Beach, a hidden treasure that is one of our favourite haunts during the summer.
A gorgeous view of Bachman's beach to our left.
Our shadows in the sand.
Bachman's beach to our right. BT is enjoying playing in the waves.
Overlooking a grassy area.
This postcard perfect view is in the Sunnybrook area on our way to another beach to continue our beach experience. Such a beautiful sunny day...but so cold!
More of our coastline.
We arrive at Westhavers Beach in Maders Cove, just outside Mahone Bay. This isn't the beach, but the view across the road.
A small lighthouse a short distance offshore.
This is Westhavers Beach. We prefer Bachman's Beach, but Westhavers is a great place to find sea glass.
BT and JT happened upon these two very close to shore!
The road above the beach.
Waves lapping on the sand.
House on a private island just offshore.
Driftwood on the beach.
We had a great time but it was nice to get back home where it was warm!
